The experience of EW Kenyon concerning righteousness

 

EW Kenyon discovered that he is righteous and no longer had to perform even as a Christian to earn the favor and blessing of God. He had a similar experience to that of Martin Luther who uncovered “justification by faith alone”. Here is what he said in his diary:

 

Strange, I had never noticed it before. God Himself was to become my Righteousness the moment that I accepted Christ and confessed Him as my Lord. Then I remembered Romans 10:10, “For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

Then 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” I couldn’t believe it at first. I struggled for days and days on this scripture. I knew that if I became the righteousness of God in Christ that I would never again depend on experiences. I had arrived. The thing that my heart had craved was here, but it would never become real to me until I confessed it before the world.

That Sunday morning, when I dared to say, “I am the righteousness of God in Christ,” was when I experienced what it meant. A strange quietness filled my whole being. A joy that I had never before experienced, filled my heart.

EW Kenyon Doctrinal Statement in 1899

 

In 1899, a man of God by the name of EW Kenyon made a bold doctrinal stand for his Christian beliefs. You need to understand that the majority of the Christian crowd at that time did not have the revelation of the Word like we have today. There was a lack of understanding about the work of the Holy Spirit and the grace of God, yet one man, Kenyon, made a stand.

 

Here is what he believe:

1. We insist that the Bible is the Word of God
2. Absolute obedience to the Word of God
3. That men live what they profess
4. We insist that men are saved body, soul, and spirit from sin but are not saved while in sin
5. That God will and does fulfill every promise in His Word, when we meet His requirements
6. That the God of Israel is the God of today, and does the same mighty works today that He did then
7. That Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and that the same signs that followed the apostles, today follow those who believe.

 

Would you dare to believe in God’s Word even if it goes against the “grain”?

The destruction of fear

 

From the writings of EW Kenyon:

I sought for a cure for fear. It is not in philosophy, it is not in metaphysics, it is not in human religion, scientific or otherwise. Fear can only be destroyed by  the truth coming to us of our emancipation from the power of Satan, of our being right with God. That will destroy fear.

Don’t let Faith die

This post was written for Charisma (one of my sites), but I find it worthwhile to repeat it here for a different audience. From time to time i will post writings of great men and women of God whose words have greatly influence my life. Their insights and wisdom astounds me especially knowing that they lived during an era of the lack of technology and Pentecostal teachings that we  have today.

One of E.W. Kenyon’s statement goes like that:

When faith dies, philosophy flourishes. A living Christ and a living Father God perfectly satisfies, and we have no need of philosophy, we have no need of metaphysics. It is when we lose Christ out of our daily life that we turn to metaphysics and philosophical theories that have no place in the life of faith.
